The Tour to Chichen Itza starts when we pick you up at your hotel, the best timing for pick ups are in between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. Be aware that the Archaeological Site opens at 9 and the ride to Chichen Itza from Cancun or Playa del Carmen is about 2:00 to 2:30 hrs., so a 7:00 am pick up is always better so you can get to Chichen Itza before the big crowds.

Our experienced driver will take you all the way to the Mayan site explaining a little bit about the Mayans and about the area, inviting you some beers and water along the road.
Once in Chichen Itza you’ll be delighted with the majesty of the place. The area is huge and once you enter you’ll be able to see the main building known as “El Castillo” or “The Castle” in English.
Enjoy the day at Chichen Itza with your family or friends with a guide that you can find onsite. Guides at Chichen Itza are certified and will tell you all the history of the place, as well as interesting facts about Chichen Itza.
Visit The Castle as we already mentioned, and you must take a picture as a souvenir. Stop by the Temple of the Warriors while the guide tells you the story and check out one of the biggest Mayan courts at the Ball Court in Chichen Itza. Don’t forget about the sacred cenote in Chichen Itza, where they used to make sacrifices to the Gods.
After spending a couple of hours at the Chichen Itza Mayan Archaeological Site, you’ll be able to go to a Cenote, probably the most know which is the Ik Kil Cenote, and there you can jump in the fresh waters of this Mayan Sinkholes to cool down from the heat of the Yucatan Peninsula.
At the Ik Kil Cenote you can also grab lunch, there is a buffet lunch for a very affordable price. You can choose to eat at the Ik Kil Cenote, or ir you prefer, you can go to Valladolid, the Colonial Town, which is right next door.
Valladolid in Yucatan is a very beautiful colonial town and it’s a must when you do the Chichen Itza Tour. In Valladolid you’ll find the Cathedral, Ice Creams and Mayan Museums and Art & Crafts Boutiques, where you can buy hammocks of other souvenirs.
After a long day of fun and visiting the Mayan places of the Yucatan Peninsula, you’ll jump back in the car to get back to your hotel in Cancun or the Riviera Maya and you’ll see that you’ll make your way back in no time!

Suggested Itinerary
- We suggest an exit at 7:00 AM to get to Chichen Itza at 9:30 AM before the crowds and the heat.
- Stay there for 2-3 hours.
- When you finish at Chichen Itza, your driver will be waiting for you to take you to Cenote Ik Kil, where you can swim in the fresh water and also have lunch.
- Depending on how much time you have left you can visit the colonial town of Valladolid in the middle of the Yucatan Peninsula.
